  10. I am planning a cheap microcontroller system, and the 68306 from Motorola
  11. is a microcontroller, which is cheap, i can direct connect DRAM to it,
  12. it has a little amount of peripheral functions (two serial and some  
  13. prallel IO), the right controller for my application. But Motorola is  
  14. going to abandon production of some of there 68k series like 68000, 68008,
  15. 68681, 68230, does anyone know how it looks with this type of  
  16. microcontroller ? My chip seller told me, sometimes Motorola is going to  
  17. produce some thousands of this chip, deliver them to their distributers,
  18. so it can be hard to get some if I need some, but Motorola decided, time  
  19. didn't come to produce them. What are the experiences with the  
  20. availibility of these chips ?
  21. Another question: I have to connect the system to a PC, and the connect
  22. should not be too slow, that means >= 500kByte/s, and I should use a  
  23. interface, which is easy to install on the PC-side. That means :
  24. use of
  25.   1. ethernet   or
  26.   2. arcnet     or
  27.   3. epp capabilities of the parallel port
  28.  
  29. For point 1 and 2, I have the sources to get infos and drivers, for point  
  30. 3, I am looking for solutions or chips, which I can use. The chips from
  31. SMC and Cirrus (SMC34C60 and Cl-CD1283, Cl-CD1284) seem to be oversized  
  32. for that application. Has anyone ideas about chips and drivers, the
  33. basic-software of my system is not fixed, the decision isn't made, whether  
  34. to use OS9, to program some own basic IO-routines for the little middle- 
  35. fast IO-traffic or to use someother stuff.
